About me

Hi, I’m Rochelle — a fully qualified and HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist with over 10 years’ experience working in NHS clinical settings with children and young people.

My clinical work has been shaped by a specialism in attachment and trauma across childhood, adolescence, and family systems. I have delivered Individual, Dyadic, Group, and Parent-Focused sessions, always considering the most effective and compassionate way to support positive change for each child.

Through evidence-based practice, I have seen how art can offer a powerful shared language — creating connection, easing internal distress, and opening new perspectives. I believe children are not expected to navigate their worlds alone; instead, through a gentle, side-by-side approach, we can explore difficult thoughts and feelings together.

I am guided by the young person within the therapeutic space, taking a “toe-by-toe” approach — moving carefully and collaboratively to build safety, trust, and connection without judgement.

Children and young people hold deep courage, resilience, and strength, even when this is not immediately visible. With time, space, and understanding, we can nurture their voice — empowering them to shape their own futures and move towards their goals.

The Root Room Philosophy

The Root Room was inspired by the quiet intelligence of trees. Beneath the surface, roots grow in darkness, expand with intention, and communicate in unseen ways — forming complex, interconnected systems.

In the same way, a child’s inner world develops beneath the surface. By holding this in mind, I consider not only the individual but also the wider systems surrounding them. Just like roots, care can grow from the ground up — steady, connected, and deeply nourishing.
